The first rule is to have that burning desire to remove all the negativity surrounding our existence.
You should have that firm conviction of living your life without any trouble or problem .
Each day is a new life start it from there.

Faith and Joy
Declaration of Unconquerable Faith
Faith is the golden stream of all life flowing from the Heart of God.
Faith is the ever flowing bloodstream of the White Light of the Christ.
Faith is the beginning and the end of all life.
Faith is the substance underlying all manifestation, its foundation bedrock.
Faith is the everywhere evenly present Substance
from which all creations are fashioned and formed.
Faith is the flame of life within the heart of the co-Creator with God.
Faith is limitless, inexhaustible.
Faith is unending and all enduring.
Faith is unconquerable.
Faith is all-conquering.Faith is complete here and now.
Faith is ours to use here and now.
Faith can open all doors, overcome all darkness,
overlook all weakness and perform miracle after miracle.
Faith is the Life of my life, the Heart of my heart, the Soul of my soul.
Faith is the Divine Rod of Power between God and His Sons and Daughters.
Let Faith now rule our lives and reign upon earth forever
Joy is the permeating, sustaining Beauty of my days.
My life is beautiful because Joy fills it with Divine Activity.
The Beauty of Joy enthralls me, and my heart bursts with the need to express more of the Love of God.
Rapturous Joy sends thoughts of loving Compassion winging forth toward all men,
and breathes the Beauty of Unconquerable Faith upon all whom I love.
The Divine Rapture of Joy lifts my eyes to the stars.
Joy sends my Spirit of Praise, my sense of Devotion and Gratitude,
soaring upward toward the Source of all Power in words of thanksgiving.
Joy leads me upward from an earthbound consciousness
into the Beauty of the Christed consciousness.
I become perfect in Joy for this one moment.
I hold myself steadfastly in this perfect spirit of Joy– just one moment at a time.
Joy is the Eternal Source from which the Spirit of Youth springs forth
to dominate my life and all of my affairs.
Joy is the firm foundation upon which I build my whole life,
and by which I hold conquering Power over self.
Joy is the strength of my soul and the Power moving through all of my personal creation
Perseverance
Have you come to a point in your life where you feel like a colossal failure, a complete loser, and a non-starter? Has it become unthinkable for you to embark on any project, very tough to try your hands on something new, and almost impossible to achieve a goal? Hey, I’ve been there too.
I have several time been to this point where I call the mind’s ‘base point’ that I know it’s not just a feeling but a state of the mind; a sour and defeated state of the mind. And of course the unseen mind pretty much controls everything happening to or around us. For more on the mind see The At this base point you feel and seem useless to yourself, and reading this article will make you feel either of two different ways depending on how far down this road you have traveled: if you are not yet at your mind’s base point articles like this might spark some Interest and life in you; but if you have truly really reached your mind’s base point then articles like this draw criticism and disdain from you because you feel the authors could never know what you’ve been through. That is it friend; that sign of surrendered resignation to ‘fate’. That is exactly what this article is going to help you fight and win. Notice the word, fate, in quotation marks? It is on purpose just to boldly let you know that you can change even fate by what you THINK and BELIEVE. Yes that’s why you have your mind, which is universal and unfettered in its ability to control your environment.
Before jumping into how you can come out of that defeated state of mind, let’s see some of the ways people find themselves trapped in this no-go base point of the mind.
#1 Repeated failures
For the weak in mind, I mean those who do not know the enormous power vested upon their minds, repeated failures in one or many areas of their lives can have devastating effects. When failure repeatedly occurs in different areas of people’s lives it acquires (because it is a gradual process) a strangle hold on them but, when it is in one area of life they just shut off themselves from ever trying to succeed in that area again.
Imagine someone trying business a number of times and failing all of the time, going to school and not making his/her grades, doing this and it doesn’t work, trying that and still fails. If you are reading this article and have not run into such disaster yourself you might think it is a joke. But it is true. After the usual flaps and kicks in these murky waters some of such people eventually give up the idea of being successful in life – and stay defeated.
Imagine another person who has had success in every other area of her life but when it comes to her relationships she’s failed over and over again. After a few more tries she gives it up – again, defeated. It mustn’t be about relationships, it might be just any other area of one’s life. I have been in this situation before. The resultant effect is for some of such people in this situation to lock up this part of their lives and get on, never trying to succeed in this area again because they don’t want to get hurt or disappointed again.
#2 Background
While growing up I had friends who were practically completely bereft of life’s good. No money, no food, no clothing, no love, yes school but no fees, yes parents but sincerely couldn’t help! Their lives were just a cycle of needs, wants, and tears until the tears never came again. Also there are people who live in shacks and shanties. They have kids and teenagers who everyday see and wallow in the kind of life that is rife in such places. And gradually they accept that standard of living after trying a few times to get out.
I have seen these kinds of people and there are two very different sets of reactions they exhibit to what is happening to and around them:
a. Never allow these things to affect their minds, put up a strong front, hold a bright hope for the future, and fight till they achieve.
b. Allow their situation to affect their minds, put a lid to their growth, wilt in front of the vagaries of life, settle for status quo, and give up the fight.
Whatever might be the troubles and situations that brought you to a defeated state of mind must fall into category 1 or 2 or both. It does not matter; however, what matters is your attitude to life. Are you in group a or b above?
How You Can Win Again
How you can win again? Simple: Dare to Try Again! Let me be a tad harsh here: everything that has happened or is happening to you right now is completely dependent on your choice. And I’ll teach you right away how to change your choice and automatically change your life as a result. Please don’t eat me up! I know you had no say about being born to very poor parents, or born in a shanty, or even being an orphan. That is very much accepted. You may then go further to argue that the above situations made you become this trapped but, to this I say NOT TRUE! What in hell do I mean? Nothing!! Am just saying you should try the following:
#1 Change Your Attitude
Change your attitude to life! Change the way you think and feel about life; change your behaviour towards issues concerning your life. This is the first big step towards making the difference. Do you want your life back? Then you must cast the shackles of negative attitude to issues and life in general from off your mind, and adopt a strong, positive outlook to life. You have to begin to see things differently and accept only the best. Note that it may not be very easy to jump out of that base point hole called defeat in just a day; change attitude is a gradual process, and you must keep constantly at it. I promise you one thing though: it will work.
#2 Believe the Truth
It is a big lie that you were predestined to fail. A big lie it is that you are supposed to suffer. It is also another fat lie that you were meant to be poor, meant to die, and meant not to succeed. These are lies coming from a defeated mind, and from what people say or act around you. You’ve had your fill of troubles and lies but here is the TRUTH: you were made to succeed. This is no exaggeration irrespective of what you think. You were predestined and destined to be who you CHOOSE to be. Yes, predestination gives you room and freedom to attain heights you choose to attain, and not condemn you to some tightly tailored pattern of life. And that is the truth. You were born into this world with freewill and freedom of choice to be whomsoever and whatsoever you choose to be. Let it sink into your mind because it is the truth. You must ditch every lie you have hitherto held onto and believe these truths before you can make any meaningful progress in life. Friend, whatsoever you lay your hands on shall prosper if you believe.
#3 Believe in Yourself
It is time to throw away all those pessimistic and no-starter beliefs you used to hold about yourself. Believe in your innate ability to grow and succeed. Have confidence in yourself in everything you want to do. Expand your horizon and stop limiting yourself! Look at the outside world, see people who have made it, put yourself in their place and say I CAN make it. And indeed you will. If you get to this point then there is no more stopping you.
#4 Use Your Mind
Hear this: thinking is being. Thoughts are an expression of the unseen mind. Know this: the unseen mind controls the seen world. Your mind has enormous power to control the world around you and you can use this power to control events in your life. Your success or lack of it is down to the state of your mind – what you allow your mind to think and believe. This is no fairy tale because there are scientific proofs and real life experiences to back it. For more on the power of the mind see Mind Power. At the subatomic level, like attracts like, and this is called the Law of Attraction, and your thoughts which are basically energy operate at this level. Your thoughts are actually expressed into reality and it you know and believe this you’ll agree with me that you have to change your thoughts and perceptions to very positive ones to match your desires in life. It’s very simple: use your mind to attract what you want and you can do this by thinking your dreams and desires into existence. It’s even simpler: think positive and get good; think negative and get bad.
It might take some time before you start seeing results because you have hitherto inflicted your mind with so many negative thoughts but, keep at it and with time you’ll begin to see the goods manifesting in reality.
#5 Stay Strong
It might be impossible to prevent yourself from failing sometimes just like a toddler learning to walk. However, whenever this happens redefine your definition of failure and try again. Let me help you here: failure isn’t failing but it is failing and refusing to try again. Do not allow temporary failure to prevent you from seeing the big picture. Always look at the big picture and stay strong. Falling does not kill, it will make you stronger.
Thomas Edison, the inventor of the electric bulb, said when he tried and failed hundreds of times to make the electric bulb that he just found many ways of not making the electric bulb. And yes, he finally got it right. If you have heard of Abraham Lincoln, you’ll know he was a man accustomed to failing but never gave up. He finally became one of America’s greatest presidents. Check out the great men and women in history with landmark achievements, they were not born great and some of them really, really failed over and over but never did they give up. They held on, kept on, fought on, and finally achieved. What am saying is, Dare To Try Again!
Conquer fear
The famous scientist, Marie Curie once said that nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood. It is also a common quip that the best form of defense is attack.
In order to realize your potential you must be willing to confront your fears – to do those things you are afraid to do. The more you run the more you lose ground and sight of your goals and aspirations. A lot of folk turn their backs and run when they are faced with difficult or frightening situations. I don’t blame them a lot because it is the easiest thing to do – turn around and run!
Am not referring to those dangerous life and death situations where you have to physically run for your dear life. Am talking about the race that happens in your mind, where you turn away from difficulties and responsibilities in life just because you are afraid.
In life there must be obstacles and challenges that stand in the way of your personal and professional growth and you must not only face them, but also overcome them, if you must succeed.
It is different for different people; what scares you may not be what scares me. Also, people have different thresholds for fear. For example, some people are just too afraid to start a new business, while some others can easily start one and only get scared when problems arise in the business.
What makes you afraid?
The answer is simple. You do not want to leave your comfort zone. Whenever I challenged an acquaintance of mine with this fact the answer he always gave me was that “a bird at hand is more than a million in the bush.” Thing is that he used that expression to mask his fear – he was afraid of trying; he loved his comfort zone!
A good reason why people are afraid of leaving their comfort zone is because they fear the unknown. They are afraid of treading new grounds. They are afraid of failing. People generally feel comfortable and safe when they are in familiar environments, when familiar events are happening around them, and when their predictions about things come out right. Your comfort zone affords you all this luxury.
Look at this set of fears:
- Fear of responsibility
- Fear of learning new skills
- Fear of changing jobs
- Fear of public speaking
- Fear of success
- Fear of failure
- Fear of trying new things
- Fear of rejection
- Fear of losing your friends
- Fear of commitment
- Fear of xyz
You might be afraid of one or more of the above. Don’t feel bad about it, there are many other people who are afraid of the same thing(s) you are afraid of. All these fears are all tied to not wanting to leave your comfort zone.
Pros and Cons of Your Comfort Zone
Your comfort zone can afford you familiarity and hence that feeling of safety, but it ensures that you remain static. Your comfort zone does not move; it remains in one place and keeps you there.
It is comfortable to talk with friends and family, speak the same languages all your life, cook familiar dishes, go to familiar places, do your regular job, etc. Notice that you are doing the same things over and over again. And I bet you love it because you don’t have to break a sweat.
What about meeting new people, traveling to new places, going for a better job, starting a new business, and just learning new things? How about an eventful life, a life full of experiences, and a life of diversity? These all require that you step out of your comfort zone, but they will surely enhance your personality and productivity.
It is then pretty obvious that your comfort zone keeps you stagnant and will not allow you to reach out for new things. Comfort zones fight change. They prevent you from reaching out for your goals and aspirations in life.
The Cost of Running
You lose a lot by running from your fears. The only thing you actually gain by turning your back at your fears is momentary and intermittent relief.
As a prefect in high school many years ago, it was suddenly my turn to lead the morning assembly. I was this shy, quiet, on-my-own kind of person. Many days before that day my heart beat fast and my hands sweated whenever I remembered that it was my turn. A day to that “dreaded” day I pleaded with a friend of mine, also a prefect, to stand in for me. She agreed and all the tension disappeared and I felt peace, at least that night.
But here is what it cost me:
- I lost an opportunity to learn how to address a large audience
- My self-esteem took a nose dive because a girl stood in for me – and did it well
- I was scolded when the teachers found out
I was lucky because that duty was forced on me on a later date and I had to do it. But I learned a lot by standing on that high podium and looking at those many eyes peeking at me. Yes, I was scared to my teeth, but I did it.
Running from your fears may get worse and here are further downsides:
- You prevent yourself from achieving success
- You live a routine and boring life
- You don’t improve as a person
- You are frustrated and disappointed
Many people decide not to try at all because it saves them all the stress. Hear this: only people who try fail; also only people who try succeed!
I bet after reading this you wish you can confront your fears. I know you can!
Confronting Your Fears and Winning
To confront your fears you must first develop a positive attitude. You must change attitude and then decide to take action in the direction of your fears.
To start with, you have to decide to get out of your comfort zone and explore your potential. Yes, you’ll be scared, but decide to take control of your life and you’ll see the endless possibilities before you.
One very important ingredient you need to be able to confront your fear is courage. Courage is what gives you the inner strength to go ahead even though you are afraid.
Believe that you can and move forward one step at a time in boldness and courage. Do not allow doubt or worries to set in, because all they do is to discourage you from trying.
Remember that story about Peter the Apostle walking on water? As long as he had faith and believed he kept walking without sinking. But immediately he let fear and doubt set in he started sinking. It is the same thing here. Put away your fear. Put away your doubt. Put away your negativity. Face you fears head-on and you will win. In fact, you may find out that you shouldn’t have been afraid of some of the things that crept you out.
Keep at it even when you are afraid. For example, let’s say you are afraid of accepting responsibility. When new responsibilities come your way, accept them. Yes, you might mess things up the first time, but it does not matter. You are a winner for even trying.
A friend of mine was afraid of playing the keyboard in his local church. I encouraged him all I could, but he was afraid of making mistakes, of people talking about his mistakes…. Not too long ago I saw him and he told me that he later played in church. He said he made some mistakes and that all he planned to play flew off his head, but he was still happy he played. For even trying at all he won. He is eager to keep playing, and I can bet you he’ll improve on how he plays in public rapidly.
Associate with Fearless People
I loved doing back flips and somersaults when I was in grade school. It was a hobby for me. But I had a classmate then who was awesome at it and he did all sorts of somersaults from very high structures as much as 9ft tall. I couldn’t. I became friends with him and he encouraged me to try, even though I knew it was dangerous.
Each day at school he’d somersault from those heights and invite me to try. It continued lie this until one day I climbed up there while my friend and other classmates were on the sandy ground cheering. I had to. I just had to. Up there I was so scared but I told myself I had to do it and boom… I did it! From that day it became a sight to behold as other students would gather after school to watch us do stuff.
What am saying is make friends with fearless people, not those who would pile their own fear on you and discourage you from trying new things. My friend helped me overcome my fear and do something I had been itching to do.
What is that thing that you are afraid of? Face it. Take action. Win!
Mind Power

Have you ever thought of measuring the innate creative power of your mind? Have you ever imagined how your mind is able to process all the billions of information that flow through it? Quite a lot has been written on this subject and for very good reason – we are inquisitive; want to know exactly what and what us make up; why we are the way we are; and why things around us happen the way they do. This inquisitive nature is very normal with humans. So, don’t chide yourself when you seem to be asking a lot of questions about your existence. Only ask them the right way.
This article has been intentionally written to avoid all those somewhat confusing details about the physics of the mind. However, you’ll get a simple but in depth understanding of the workings of the mind and its power, and how you can use this new understanding to your own advantage. Please this is not supernatural anything nor is it magic, but a clearer and scientific explanation of something you may already vaguely know. So let us begin…
What and where is the mind?
The mind is the aspect of the intellect and consciousness expressed as combinations of thought, memory, perception, will, emotion and imagination, and also all unconscious cognitive processes.
When I was fourteen a classmate of mine asked where the mind was and I confidently pointed to my chest and said, “the heart.” He started laughing and we argued because he said that the mind was in the brain. Don’t laugh at me, that was so many years ago. A lot of theories exist as to what and where the mind is. Some schools of thought say that the mind is the brain, others say that the mind and the brain are separate entities and that neither can be used to measure or fathom the other, yet another group says though the brain and the mind are separate entities they are closely interwoven. And don’t forget, of course, that my classmate said the mind was in the brain. He might be a tad correct. Being medically inclined and hence having done quite a lot of physiology and psychology courses at school, and also having read fairly wide on this area, am going to give a balanced view on this subject.
The brain is the gateway to the mind. The brain and mind are not the same but are intricately related. The brain is the centre of the nervous system, controlling almost all body functions by way of nerve synapses and hormones. It is therefore not surprising that the mind controls the totality of all intangible processes such as thinking, memory, feeling, etc. The brain then, is the medium of contact to the mind which is broader, universal and unfettered. There is strong and irrepressible scientific evidence that there is a strong relationship between the physical brain matter and the mind. This can be appreciated by the impact physical alterations to the brain can have on the mind, such as traumatic brain injury and psychoactive drug use. For example injury to part of the brain might lead to personality problems, memory problems, cognitive disorders, etc.
How creative and powerful is the mind?
As mentioned earlier, the human mind is broad, universal and unfettered in its abilities. It is very central to your existence as a person. Consider this: you are dead the moment you stop using your mind. It’s no surprise that the definition of when physical death occurs has been changed. No more is it when the heart stops beating but when the brain stops firing electrical impulses. This fact by extension underscores the indispensability of the mind to human life and progress.
Again, as stated earlier, everything we see is an extension of mental pictures. The mind influences EVERYTHING that happens to or around us. For a clear understanding let’s look at it from a practical angle. Every architectural master class, every football skill, every solution to any problem… was first conceived, processed and synthesized by the mind before being brought into physical existence. Positive or negative it does not matter, the mind influences both material (tangible) and immaterial (intangible) processes and phenomena. Please take this literally because that is how it actually works. On what authority do I say this? This conclusion is based on the findings of quantum physics. Sounds overwhelming? No. Quantum physics is just the study of how everything in our universe came to be – energy! Pure energy!! In simple terms then, quantum physics is just a branch of physics that studies energy.
Results from empirical and rigorous research by scientists in the area of quantum physics have proven beyond doubt that all matter (material and immaterial) and antimatter (opposite of matter) when broken down to basic constituents are made up of just pure energy. Hence: molecules → atoms → subatomic particles → pure energy. This fact has very complicated and expansive implications. Simply put, however, it means that all we see and feel around us: trees, air, water, fire, sun, feeling, thoughts, words, emotions, etc are just basically made of pure energy! Now take some time to digest that.
Pure energy makes up ALL THINGS seen and unseen. And the source of all things is God. Different things around us take various forms and shapes due to the differences in structure and vibrational frequency of their energy. Having established that our thoughts are made of pure energy, it means that different thoughts vibrate at different energy frequencies. You must understand and believe this truth for it to mean anything to you.
What does all this Imply for the Mind?
Simple: whatever your mind can conceive you can achieve. There is no exception. Having said earlier that all we see and feel around us are and extension of the mental, then, anything we think can be brought into physical existence. Again, there is no exception to this rule. This is the CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR MIND. Notice the constant use of the word, ‘physical’. This is because anything conceived by the mind already exists in the unseen world of the mind but it takes belief and will to make it materialize. Hang on and let me explain…
Many years ago when Albert Einstein discovered his famous
E=MC2 energy formula he believed this pure energy to be like particles (particulate), that is, having a somewhat solid form. Another scientist, Thomas Young, believed this energy to be waves. Finally, Niels Bohr, a Nobel winning physicist, said this energy could be particulate or wavelike but both at the same time. So which do we believe? Let us find out.
To put this debate to rest scientists decided in Brussels, Belgium to come together with the aim of experimenting and studying the very nature of this energy. Something very striking happened. This energy was seen to be particulate by some of the scientists while others observed it to be wavelike. It was later found out that this energy took a form depending on the academic beliefs, thoughts, or perception of the scientist studying it. Therefore if scientist A believed and thought this energy to be particulate it materialized so physically under observation, and if scientist B thought it was wavelike it also physically materialized so under observation. This is no fable; pure scientific discovery it is.
Conclusively, they established that this energy responded proportionately to the thoughts, beliefs and perception of the scientist studying it. At this point any doubts you had about the enormous and unfettered power of the mind should have been cleared. Now you are ready to learn the most important aspect…
What does all this Mean to You?
All this history and science is just to make you understand that you cannot be limited, except by your own mind; that you can and should control circumstances around you; that whatever is not too big to be conceived by your mind is not too big to exist physically. How? It is by channeling your thoughts and speeches to back your desires. This then means that your success or failure, good or bad, happiness or sadness, are all a matter of your mind. The answer to every question is in your mind, and the solution to every problem is also is your mind. This is how God, the source of all creation (all energy), has made it to be. All you need is careful thinking through and observation to notice how answers and solutions are presented to you. This sounds very simplistic and truly so but the truth is that our minds have been limited by culture and teachings given to us over time from childhood till old age. But you can actually make your life better by attracting desired results to yourself. This can be achieved by the law of Attraction.
In this physical plane polarity exists: like and unlike attract e.g. positive and negative attract; two of a kind repel e.g. positive and positive repel. However, at this pure energy level there is no polarity as we know it and everything is classified according to its vibrational energy frequency. And here: Like Attracts Like, Unlike Attracts Unlike.
Everything good is made of energy vibrating at a like range of frequency, while everything bad is made of energy vibrating at an unlike range of frequency. Since like attracts like (sacrosanct universal law) then good thoughts attract other good things while bad thoughts attract other bad things. This is known as the law of attraction. And don’t forget that whatever you think, and say (depending on whether you believe it) ALWAYS materializes. Not my theory, it’s been scientifically proven through and through.
How can you use this knowledge for your benefit?
You can create your dream life just by putting your mind to constructive use. Chanel your thoughts towards a good and positive life and see it come to be physically. Your age does not matter just what you think and believe works. For this same reason the saying, “the rich get richer while the poor get poorer,” is true. This is because the rich always THINK and TALK and BELIEVE big. They don’t just think and talk so, they believe it; they ask the big questions and do the big things. Not because they have the money but because they have the will and belief. The poor on the other hand, for all their hard work, get poorer because they have small minds. A poor man even when he has some good money does not have the will and belief to make that money make more money. Go check it, it’s true. They think and talk and believe small:
- How on earth am I going to be wealthy?
- I can never be rich with this kind of business
- I’ve come so far and can’t make it
They ask the question with so much sarcasm and pessimism and do not just see any good in themselves and thus remain the same or even get worse. Of course like attracts alike, and such disposition will never do them any good but attract more want and lack. Poverty indeed is a sickness of the mind because the mind has been buffeted, assaulted and put down by years of self-degradation, unbelief, and suppression. Yes the law of attraction works all the time and is immutable.
And words?
Words are an extension of the workings of the mind and as result have power. They are just a reflection of what you think and believe. If this is true then it means that you can speak positive and get good, or speak negative and get bad. This is simply due to the fact that your words carry the power of your thoughts which undoubtedly have enormous power.
I give you a personal example. While in school I took a particular course and after the exam I said to a friend angrily - not that I meant it - that I was going to fail the course. I said this because the paper was tough (for everybody) but I still answered a good number of the questions. My friend, being a Christian who understood and believed in the power of words, rebuked me sharply and asked me not to repeat such statement or “it would happen,” in his own words. I had mixed feelings because I was used to answering all my test and exam questions and scoring ‘As” and so I didn’t change my belief and still said it a few more times whenever I thought about the exam. Now, this paper was nowhere near the toughest papers at all but when the results were released I failed just that course. But I did really well in the other very difficult ones. Only then did I recall my statements. I learned from my mistake from a painful way. Words have power too. Use them positively to your own benefit. With all this information about the mind, how can you use all of it to your own advantage? Do something:
Change your attitude
Having now known that what happens to and around you, positive or negative, is as a result of what goes on in your mind, go ahead and use this knowledge to think and talk into existence the kind and quality of like you want to live. But you must Perseverance.
Let there be a paradigm shift. Let there be a change in the way you see things. Shed yourself of all those depressing, down-putting ideas and belief about your life and TAKE CHARGE. Yes, take charge. You can make things to start happening for you today and not against you. Your destiny here on earth actually depends on you. You might argue about the spiritual, I so much believe in it too, but God has given everyone a measure of ability to steer his life in whichever direction he / she wants. With all you’ve now learnt your success or failure is YOUR CALL!
Start believing right today and you’ll see things working right. It may take some time before you start seeing concrete results considering that you have engaged yourself in negative and limiting thoughts for so many years. However, start from somewhere:
- Change your attitude to life to a positive one
- Always see the good in a seemingly bad situation
- Be grateful / thankful in advance for things you desire
- Do not forget to talk them out
- Believe yourself
Always remember that you are what you think!
HAPPINESS
This article is for those who have dreams, visions and goals; people who want to make meaning out of their lives. It is very important that you are reading this right now because it is never enough just to dream, never enough just to desire and wish, and never enough just to hope for the best. A lot of work goes into realizing your dreams. Plenty of action is required for you to actually live out that life you always imagine in your mind and think in your thoughts. Working hard may not be a problem for some people but, there is something that prevents them from coming to the point of working hard and putting in all it takes to achieve their goals.
There is a big gulf that exists between the time of dreaming and setting of goals, and the time of actually achieving those goals and living them in reality. You need a vehicle to carry you from point A to point B. And this vehicle is called passion! This is where the problem lies for most people because they lack the fire lighted by passion to pursue their goals and aspirations.
Dad used to always say that the burning desire of a man is the prophecy of his destiny. Think over those words carefully and you’ll realize that they are very true. Whatever drives you today will make you tomorrow. Lack the drive and you’ll lack fulfillment; lose it halfway and you’ll lose sight of your target before getting there. How many people today wanted to be doctors, lawyers, engineers, sports men and women, artists, politicians, etc, but ended up doing something else and being none of these, never achieving their lofty aims? Too many of them because they either lacked the passion to fuel their pursuits or lost it halfway.
You might argue that many of them could not finally achieve their life dreams due to difficulties or hardships, or just couldn’t make it in school or place of training, which is very possible. But again, there are people who were in the same shoes as they were, or even worse, but still succeeded in reaching their high targets. I see some of them every day and they only serve to inspire me the more. Have you heard of the saying, ‘where there is a will there is a way’? This will is the passion which pushes you to find a way. It gives you inspiration to see clearly and uncover unknown tracks that you never knew existed which will finally lead to your destination.
Am talking about the passion that inspires! It is a fire; it burns; it sets your heart and mind ablaze; it lights the way for you to see through to your destination. Ever seen a dry wild bush set on fire? The fire never relents; it never stops until it burns the whole length and breadth of the track right to its end. This is exactly what passion for your dreams and goals does for you. It sets your heart and mind ablaze, and you cannot rest or let up until you get right to the end. Let your dreams set you ablaze today to pursue your goals until you actually live them out. How can you do this?

Are you a Dreamer? Have you
ever said, (wistfully, not in regret), " I wish!" You could be
expressing a dream. Do you ever find yourself imagining where you would like to
be, geographically or circumstantially? Hey! That's a dream!
Have you seen a situation in the world and thought, "If
only I could do something to change that"? That is the beginning of a
noble dream. In the back of your mind do you ever feel, " I deserve better
than this"? Could that be a suppressed dream? Can you see where we are going
with this? It may seem strange, but sometimes we have a 'dream' without really
being aware of it. Sometimes that Dream becomes a Goal. So, what is the
difference between a 'dream' and a 'goal'? A dream is an idea, the product of
imagination, a thought or may be a fantasy. What about the meaning of a goal
(in the context of life rather than sports)? As always, there are many
definitions, but the common thread is that it is a 'specific situation that is
achievable within a certain time frame'. This introduces a whole set of requirements
for us if we are to change our dreams into real goals. -- The goal needs to be
Specific -- Has to be Measurable -- It needs to be Attainable -- It should be
Real -- It has to have a Timeframe. Let's just enlarge those points;
The goal needs to be specific. For example, your dream may be
to, "Have lots of money". What is 'a lot'? When would you like to
have it? What do you want it for? Why do you want it? These and other questions
need to be addressed before your dream becomes a tangible, real, goal. In fact
the more precise or specific you can be, the more likely you are to achieve
your goal. In fact, unless it is specific - how will you know when you have
achieved it? You may have a dream to help children in need, or help the
homeless, but noble as that is, it is too vague. You need to specify perhaps, a
certain group of children, a geographic location, as with the homeless, - maybe
the needy in your own town to start with. Your 'dream' might be to travel, but
where, by what means of transport, when, for how long, who with etc.
Has to be Measurable. This may sound similar to 'Specific', but
it also has a third party involvement, and is therefore a powerful incentive to
reaching your goals. Being specific about a goal helps you to focus and
visualize and when a goal is also measurable you are able to share that goal,
as a tangible result, with others. You have immediately introduced the aspect
of 'accountability' and as scary as that sounds, it can have a huge affect on
your progress. There is a lot of difference in thinking to yourself, "I
would like to quit my job, having built up my own business, with enough income
to support me", and stating to friends or family, "This time next
year my business will be generating $X,000 per month and I will be my own
boss!". Your goal is now public and 'visible' to others - that will help
you focus, believe me!
It needs to be attainable. There is nothing wrong with setting
high goals for yourself, in fact if you set them too low, it can reduce your
motivation to strive for them. Equally if your goals are absolutely
impractical, that also can be discouraging. If it is attainable, that means
that although it will take motivation, effort, action and persistence, it can
be reached. Don't be put off if your goal just appears to be unattainable, many
dreams started that way, mans venture into the sky and subsequently space,
appeared impossible at one time, as did the four minute mile, the conquest of
Mt. Everest and a whole list of achievements once seen as 'unattainable'.
It should be Real. If you have considered goal-getting before,
you are probably aware that we are in fact discussing what have come to be
known as S.M.A.R.T. goals and expecting to see 'R' as being 'Realistic', but I
am going to use a little artistic licence and change that to 'Relevant' or even
'Real'. This highlights what I feel is an important aspect of actually
achieving goals, once set. Why 'Real'? Because no matter how specific you are,
unless your goal is 'real' to you, something that you are passionate about,
resolute, focused on and committed to, you will fail. You need to have a strong
desire or zeal about that goal. If your goal is expressed as, "Wouldn't it
be nice if ……..?", Or, "I would like to …….." "Maybe I
could …..", - you can be pretty sure that it will never materialise. It
will remain in the 'Dreams Box'!
It has to have a timeframe. It is also essential to set a
deadline for the realisation of your goal. This is necessary in order for you
to take progressive steps towards your goal, measure your progress, give
yourself accountability and keep motivated. Your goals should always be
referred to in the positive, in fact if visualization and affirmations are part
of your goal-getting habit, you will be using the present tense rather than future,
as if you were already experiencing your life having reached those goals -
powerful stuff - but of course whether your Dreams turn into Goals depends on
you, the secret to conversion is ACTION!
1 Have Faith in Your Goals and Dreams
There is no point trying to pursue a goal if you don’t believe in it. In fact, if you don’t believe in what you want to achieve the passion to work for it will not be there. Even if it’s there for any reason, it will flicker and go off when the cold winds blow. Truth is that without believing in your aspirations and dreams, when you hit the rocks and the mountains you won’t have the mental strength to be able to climb. This is because your inner person never saw the reason to achieve those goals and so the challenges which were originally meant to make you stronger and better only serve rather to reinforce your unbelief. And then you’ll throw the dreams overboard.
But start believing in your aspirations today. Believe it’s actually possible to achieve them, because whatever your mind can conceive can be achieved. This is a universal law and does not fail. For more on the power of the mind please see Mind Power. Friend, believe today and you’ll be surprised to find out the possibilities you never knew existed.
#2 See into the Future
To remain in constant contact with your dreams and aspirations, truly, to remain fired up until you achieve them, it is necessary that you always see into the future with your mind’s eye. Always think about the beautiful life you’ll lead when (not if) you achieve your dreams and set goals. Think about how happy you are going to be. Think and talk to yourself about it to an extent where you are almost living it in the present. Do you want to be a doctor, for example? Think and dream about it like nothing else matters, in fact, whenever you can lay your hands on stethoscopes pull them around your neck; act like a doctor. Be interested whenever you hear a discussion about doctors or medicine and actually get into the discussion if you can. Just show passion for what you want to be in life. Even if they are short term goals please put your mind and heart into it. You want to build a very rich and comfortable home? In your mind believe it and see yourself pacing in and around the big house, and maybe telling the gardener what type of flowers you want. What am saying is see it and live it!
#3 See the Importance
Write out your goals, aspirations and dreams, and make a draft of the benefits you’re going to get when you achieve them. If pursuing and achieving A or B or C is going to give you fame, make you a man/woman of means, or just make you happy and fulfilled, then write it down, look at it every day and let it inspire you to work harder to achieve your goals. This might sound a tad simplistic but it’s very important and it works. It helps to keep your passion for success in that area red hot and burning.
#4 Rise up When You Fall
Success is sweet but when you fail, what? Stand up, dust your body, and continue running or climbing. Notice the word ‘continue’, I used it on purpose because a lot of people think failure means starting all over again. But this is not true because before you failed you learned a lot in your journey towards success. So, when you stand up you are not starting from ground zero, you now have experience which is valuable both to you and others coming behind and will help you avoid already known pitfalls. Perseverance That's the only way you can fall and stand up again. Always look at the big picture, keep your heart ablaze, run until you attain. Do not allow your heart to be dampened by temporary hitches but, set your heart and eyes like a flint and fly undistracted to your destination.
#5 Be Thankful Beforehand
Learn to be grateful to God before you see your dreams materialize. If you believe in God – which I think you should – then this is a great way of both keeping the fire of passion burning and achieving your dreams and goals. Being grateful to God means you’re hopeful, and being hopeful means you’re keeping your eyes of the prize – success! It is a very simple process: being thankful means you believe in your dreams, and if you believe in them the passion to achieve them will be there. This passion to succeed will fuel the fire that will push you to work hard and achieve your dreams.
Are there dreams and aspirations you had thrown into the trash can? Why not get back to that trash can now and pick them all up and lay them down on a table. Make a list of them and see which ones are viable and that you really will want to pursue. It could be a business plan, a relationship, a target, or whatever. Just make your list and follow the above steps, put your heart into it and see the amazing results you’ll get. It’s all in your hands now!
